Girdy Cavin Obituary

On August 9, 2022 Girdy Cavin an American Pitbull Terrier, passed away at the approximate age of 16. She had fought a lengthy illness but never gave up, till the very end. She is survived by her pet parents Joseph & Jo Cavin and newly adopted brother Pepper, a Miniature  Schnauzer mix.

Girdy came to us as a stray in 2009. I found her wandering the streets of Kannapolis. Her age at that time was estimated to be three years. We tried to find her owners for months, to no avail. We tried to find a rescue to take her but all said they were at capacity.

Finding someone, we trusted to care for her was a failed task. After many months, we decided the best place for her was with us. Even though we already were at "capacity" with 4 dogs, a cat, several exotic birds and a ball python. We were smitten with our new foster "child".

Although Girdy was a handful, at times, overall she was a wonderful edition to our pack. She loved sunbathing, going for rides, meeting new people, chasing squirrels,  attempting to dig holes to the center of the earth and being a couch potato.

Girdy, out lived all our other dogs, that we had when I found her. Girdy was our constant companion and the protector of her domain. She's dearly loved and is sorely missed.
